Terms of service

Version 2.0, effective October 1, 2026

Who can use Desidera

Desidera is only for people aged 18 or over. By using Desidera you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, please don't use the service or join the waitlist.

What Desidera is

Desidera is a journal for reflection with tarot. Readings, including those written by our AI guide Vesper, are for reflection and entertainment only. They are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and they don't predict the future.

Vesper is an AI, not a person, and there is no human reader or psychic behind it. Like any AI, it can write things that are inaccurate or don't fit your situation. Decisions you make are your own. If you are in crisis or in danger, contact the emergency number 112 or a professional, not Desidera.

Without an account you can draw a daily card and join the waitlist. With a free account you can ask questions and get readings from Vesper, keep a journal of readings, notes and the people in your life, answer follow-ups about what happened, see patterns over time, and browse the card library. Some features, or more of them, are only available on a paid plan. What each plan includes is shown in the app and on the pricing page before you buy.

Technical requirements

To use Desidera you need an internet connection, a current version of a common browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge) with JavaScript and cookies enabled, and an email address you can read.

Using any online service carries risks, such as phishing or malware. We will never ask you for a password: we sign you in with a link sent to your email or with Google. Only open sign-in links that you requested and that lead to our domain.

How the contract is made and how long it lasts

Your account

Your account is personal: please don't share it or let others use it. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in. Tell us right away at hello@desidera.app if you think someone else has used your account.

Fair use

When you use Desidera, please don't:

Your content

What you write in Desidera (questions, notes, the people you add and your answers to follow-ups) stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive, free licence to store, encrypt, process and display it, and to send it to our service providers, including our AI provider, only as far as needed to provide Desidera to you. We don't publish your content, share it with other users or use it to train AI models. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backup copies, which are overwritten within 30 days.

We claim no rights over the readings Vesper writes for you. You can use them as you like.

You are responsible for what you write about other people. Please add only what you need for your own reflection.

How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.

Our content

The texts, design, card meanings and software of Desidera belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial use within Desidera. The tarot card images are based on the 1909 deck illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, which is in the public domain.

Paid plans

Prices and payment

Before you buy, we show you clearly what the plan includes, its total price including VAT, the billing period and whether it renews. Prices are in euros or Polish złoty, depending on your language and region. You pay through our payment provider, and the contract is made when your payment is confirmed. We confirm the purchase by email, with these terms attached or linked.

To do:

Name the payment provider and its accepted payment methods, link the pricing page, and say who issues invoices. If you use a merchant of record (Paddle, Lemon Squeezy), it is the seller: rewrite this section so the purchase contract is with them and these terms cover only the service.

Founding membership

Founding membership is a one-time payment for lifetime access to the paid features of Desidera, offered to a limited number of people. It doesn't renew and there is nothing to cancel. "Lifetime" means for as long as we operate Desidera. If we ever close Desidera, we'll tell you at least 90 days in advance, and if that happens within 24 months of your purchase, we'll refund a part of the price proportional to the remaining months of those 24.

To do:

Business decision: confirm the 90-day notice and the 24-month proportional refund promise for founding members, or replace them with your own terms. Without some commitment like this, "lifetime" access can be challenged as misleading.

Subscriptions

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. For yearly subscriptions, we email you a reminder at least 7 days before each renewal.

You can cancel at any time in your settings, in as few steps as it took to subscribe. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and you keep access until then. We don't charge cancellation fees.

If we change the price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies to you. The new price applies from your next billing period, and you can cancel before then.

Your right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer, you can withdraw from a paid contract within 14 days of making it, without giving a reason. To do this, tell us clearly, for example by email to hello@desidera.app. You can use the model form at the end of these terms, but you don't have to. It's enough to send your message before the 14 days are up.

We refund everything you paid within 14 days of receiving your message, using the same payment method, unless you agree to something else. We don't deduct anything for the time you've already used the paid features, and you pay no fees for withdrawing.

After the 14 days, payments are not refunded, except where the law requires it, for example if the service doesn't conform to the contract (see "Complaints and disputes").

Consumers and sole traders

Where these terms say "consumer", the same protections (right of withdrawal, conformity rules and protection against unfair terms) also apply to a person running a sole business who buys Desidera for a purpose that is not professional for them, where the law provides for it.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Desidera available and secure, but there may be short breaks for maintenance, updates or reasons beyond our control. We try to schedule planned maintenance for quiet hours.

We may change or develop features for valid reasons: changes in the law, security, technical development, or changes at our service providers. If a change to something you've paid for affects you negatively in more than a minor way, we tell you by email in advance. You can then end the contract free of charge within 30 days of the change, and we refund the part of the price for the period you can no longer use.

Ending the contract

You can end the contract at any time by deleting your account in your settings. Deleting your account deletes your journal and all your data permanently, so download your data first if you want to keep it. Deleting your account doesn't refund a paid plan, except within the withdrawal period or where the law requires it.

We can end the contract with 14 days' notice by email if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms and don't stop after we've warned you. If you break them in a way that puts others or Desidera at serious risk, for example by attacking our systems or using Desidera to harm someone, we can suspend or end your account right away and tell you why. We can also end the free service for everyone with at least 90 days' notice. If we end the contract for reasons other than your breach, we refund the part of a paid plan you can no longer use.

Liability

We are liable to you as the law provides. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for personal injury, or under any rights you have as a consumer that can't be changed by contract.

Readings are a tool for reflection, not advice or predictions, and decisions you make based on them are your own.

Complaints and disputes

As a consumer, you have statutory rights if the service doesn't conform to the contract: for example if it doesn't work as described, or lacks features you paid for. You can make a complaint by email to hello@desidera.app. Please describe the problem and what you'd like us to do, and use the email address of your account. We answer within 14 days. If the service doesn't conform, we'll fix it within a reasonable time. If we can't, you may ask for a price reduction or end the contract, as the law provides.

If we can't agree, you can get free help from the European Consumer Centre in your country, and the consumer authority where you live can point you to out-of-court dispute resolution bodies. Taking part is voluntary for both sides.

These terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country, and you can bring a claim before the courts where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for important reasons: a change in the law or a decision of an authority that affects us, new or changed features, security, or changes at our service providers that affect how we provide Desidera. We tell you about changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and show what has changed. If you don't agree, you can end the contract before then by deleting your account, and if you have a paid plan we refund the part you can no longer use. Changes that only fix typos or are entirely in your favour may apply right away.
